Full-Home Remodeling FAQs
Straight answers before you request a quote.
Whole-home design and planning, structural and layout changes, electrical and plumbing overhauls, and interior and exterior finishes. We scope phases so the project stays coordinated under one team.
Scope drives it more than square footage. Structural and layout changes and electrical and plumbing overhauls move the number, and so does the finish level you pick. We price the plan and give you a fixed, free quote before work starts.
Structural and layout changes are part of the service when the plan requires opening walls, relocating rooms, or reworking flow. Those decisions are locked in design before construction.
Yes. Electrical and plumbing overhauls are listed features, coordinated with permits and the rest of the remodel so systems and finishes land together.

Costs & Pricing
Is it cheaper to renovate a house or move?
Every household runs that math differently. What we can offer is a fixed price on the renovation side, set during design, so you are comparing real numbers.
Is a full-home remodel cheaper than remodeling rooms separately over time?
Running design, permits, and trades under one scope cuts out costs that get paid twice when projects are separate. We go through the comparison during your design consultation.
Do structural changes significantly raise the price?
Structural and layout changes add engineering and permit scope, which is priced into your fixed-price quote once the plan is finalized.
Process & Timeline
How long does a full-home remodel take?
Considerably, depending on scope. A whole-home project with structural and systems work is a different order of job from a single-room remodel. We give you an estimated timeline during planning.
Can I live in the house during a full-home remodel?
Depending on phasing and scope, some homeowners stay on site while others relocate during major work. We discuss this during the whole-home planning phase.
Where do you start with a whole home renovation?
With the whole-home plan. Structural work, systems, and finishes get sequenced together during design, so the project moves in a coordinated order instead of room by room.
Local Conditions
Do full-home remodels in Whatcom County require multiple permits?
Structural, electrical, and plumbing changes typically each require their own permit coordination, which we manage as your general contractor.
Can INEX handle exterior property care alongside a full-home remodel?
Yes. The same crew can pick up exterior washing, landscaping, or holiday lighting once the interior renovation work wraps up.

Full-home remodeling across Whatcom & Skagit Counties, WA
A whole-home remodel is not a set of room projects run back to back. Done as one scope, the structural work, the mechanical and electrical runs and the finishes are sequenced once, the trades come through in an order that does not undo each other's work, and decisions about the kitchen get made knowing what is happening to the floor it sits on. Done room by room over several years, the same house costs more and the results do not quite line up.
The other thing one scope buys is a single number. Six separate projects means six quotes, six schedules and six sets of assumptions about who is responsible for the seam between them. Here it is one foreman, one fixed price agreed before work starts, and one company accountable for the house at the end.
Living through it or not, and where the budget goes
Most homeowners underestimate what it takes to occupy a house through a full remodel. It can be done, and phasing it so there is always a working kitchen and bathroom is a normal request. But it lengthens the schedule and costs more than an empty house, because the crew works around you and the dust barriers come down and go back up. If moving out for the heaviest stretch is possible, it is usually the cheaper and calmer choice, and we will tell you honestly which weeks those are.
The money is rarely where people expect. The structural and systems stage (anything to do with framing, plumbing runs, electrical capacity or the envelope) takes a large share of the budget and produces almost nothing you can photograph. Finishes are what you see and the easier place to adjust. So when something has to give, it is almost always better to give up finish level than the work behind the walls, because finishes can be upgraded later and that work cannot.
